The Harmony Speedway Historical Society was founded in March of 2007.We are making plans for a reunion car show later in the year.Check back often for updates, plans and happenings. Have pictures from Harmony Speedway and want to have them posted. You can email them to me and I will add them to the site and and give the proper credit to the person who sent them to me.Harmony Speedway was a D-shaped dirt track that was located on River Road just outside of the village of Brainards, in Harmony Township, Warren County NJ.The track opened June 7, 1963 with NASCAR sanctioned modified, sportsman, and novice stock car divisions. On June 27, 1963 a track record was set. The time in secounds around the Big D was 26 seconds while the speed was a blazing 80 miles per hour. Along with the speedway Harmony also sported a drag strip. Some information says Earl Derr "the mightyman from mertztown" of Mertztown Pa, as named by Warren Ruffner, Archie Myers of Stewartsville NJ, and Peppy Fernandez of Oxford NJ, were winners at the drag strip. More information will be forth coming as we obtain it.Through the marble mountains of Harmony you could hear the echo of racing engines on a Friday evening into the night or a Sunday afternoon.Through the marble mountains and down into the village of Brainards many famous and not so famous race car drivers passed. Each and everyone of them wrote a piece of history for Harmony Speedway, if not for them all Harmony Speedway would have never been. So we have to honor each one of the drivers that made Harmony Speedway what it was. Thanks to Greg Collins, Bob Bathgate, Gary phillips, Tom Hull and all the contributors.Harmony Speedway Historical Society
